A workplace in transformation

Throughout life, we spend about a third of our time at work. Work has always played a significant role in our lives. But the way we work has changed dramatically compared to previous decades. Where there used to be a shared standard for what a workplace should be, we now see trends pulling in many different directions.
The saying “one size doesn’t fit all” has never been more true. For some, being surrounded by inspiration and people makes all the difference. For others, workplace culture matters more than titles or tasks. And for many, focus is not a luxury – it’s a necessity. Having the right space at the right time is crucial for performance. We can all agree that empty desks also mean wasted space and resources. Making every square metre count requires us to rethink the traditional use of the workplace and uncover its hidden potential.
Our workplaces are changing rapidly. What works today may not work tomorrow. That makes designing for the future a real challenge – but at PLH, we see it as an opportunity. We design workplaces that adapt, inspire, and bring out the best in people – both today and tomorrow.
In our work, we always take our clients and their employees as our starting point. But we are also curious about general preferences, challenges, and needs related to the physical office environment.
That’s why, during the summer of 2025, we conducted two surveys in collaboration with the research institute Norstat – one among employees and one among those responsible for the layout and organisation of physical offices across Denmark. We are happy to present these findings in this report, along with our reflections on the results and recommendations for navigating an ever-changing future. The report can be ordered via our website.
We hope to inspire and spark conversations within Danish companies and organisations – and with us.
