The construction work on the Rail Baltica project in Riga is starting this fall – check out the new visualizations here

In 2016 PLH arkitekter won the open, international design competition to develop the central multi-modal public transport hub in the Latvian capital Riga. The new transport hub will be part of Rail Baltica that will connect the Baltic counties with the European transport network. The focal point of the Latvian project is a new iconic central station building that will stand as a landmark strengthening the visual identity of the city. A new railway bridge, more green areas and a strengthened infrastructural centre connecting the regional with the local, making it easier for passengers to shift between different types of transportation – are all part of the plan.

The project is now entering the next phase, where the contractor team BERERIX has submitted the Master Design – and PLH arkitekter is entering the role as client consultants and will be doing the architectural review.

The construction work is starting this fall – and the project is expected to be finished in 2025.
