Employees and guests at Velliv have now begun using the additional space in Ballerup. The PLH-designed addition, which expands the headquarters by 4,100 m² to a total of 12,000 m², is a natural extension of the original office building and offers, among other things, several workstations and common areas such as meeting rooms, lobby and lounge areas.
The expansion builds on the design strategy that PLH Arkitekter brought to life during the initial renovation in 2018: openness, simple design lines and frameworks that facilitate Velliv's need for sharing knowledge and facilities that support the employees' different work patterns.
“I am extremely pleased that the strong collaboration with Velliv has once again resulted in a fantastic project that provides the opportunity for continued growth in a framework that focuses on employees. We were part of the renovation in 2018 and have now also been part of the new addition. In both projects we have been able to use our specialist knowledge in architecture and workplace design to create unique environments, which are specially adapted to Velliv's development and changing needs,” says Claus Johannessen, Senior Project Manager at PLH Arkitekter.
Close by the office space, there are rooms for holding small-scale meetings, online gatherings and telephone calls. The large common lobby has several different lounge areas and kitchenettes, with an unobstructed view and easy access to the larger meeting rooms on the other floors.
As with PLH's design for renovating the original headquarters, warm, natural materials such as wood and stone have been used throughout the addition, which helps to create a welcoming, comfortable environment, exuding Nordic simplicity and a Scandinavian feel.
