PLH Arkitekter designs large Woods office building in Copenhagen

In 2025, a new multi-user building will open its doors in Copenhagen. The six-story office hub combines a focus on working environment and social interaction with sustainability and is designed by PLH Arkitekter as part of NREP's Woods office concept, where companies and individuals can rent office space. Moreover, the building will contribute actively to the local community by offering publicly accessible facilities such as a cafe and a grocery store.

Great news for those who need flexible, convenient workplaces. In 2025, a new 14,600 m² office building will open its doors on Teglholmen, in the middle of the Copenhagen’s Sydhavnen district. PLH Arkitekter has designed the multi-user building, which offers up to 950 office spaces that can be rented by individuals or companies who will also have access to common facilities such as canteens and meeting rooms.

As the new building becomes a workplace for tenants across companies and industries, the design emphasizes frameworks that promote social interaction and knowledge sharing.

“The new office building will be much more than just a place where you can sit and work. It will be a campus with a professional and social community. On all six floors, hubs with informal seating areas, meeting rooms and copy and print facilities will be available to all tenants. Here, just like in the shared canteen and on the open roof terrace, you can meet others and exchange knowledge and experiences,” says Claus Johannessen, Senior Project Manager at PLH Arkitekter.

“We have an incredibly exciting project that is being brought to life, thanks to the positive collaboration with PLH Arkitekter and our other partners. We are very much looking forward to a new and innovative office building that is tailored to our concept,” says Jesper Kaas Nielsen, Senior Development Manager at NREP.

KPC, the landowner is carrying out construction in collaboration with NREP. The building will be sold to NREP upon its planned completion in 2025.

“We are really happy to once again be part of an ambitious project that has been created in close collaboration with, among others, NREP and PLH Arkitekter, based on a common desire to create added value for both the house's users and neighbors,” says Ole Teilmann, KPC.

An urban look and a focus on sustainability

The office building will have a stylish, urban look, where raw concrete elements help bring an industrial touch. In the design, special emphasis has been put on making the ground floor as welcoming and accessible as possible, to create a natural integration with the local environment. Therefore, large glass sections provide unobstructed views to the building's reception area and café with public access. At the same time, the building will become a destination for many of the area's residents, as the grocery chain Lidl opens a store here.

Throughout the building, sustainable solutions play a crucial role, both in terms of design and function, minimizing energy consumption and supplying green energy from solar cells on the roof. Consequently, it is expected that the finished construction will achieve the sustainability certification DGNB Gold.
