From preservation-listed boat sheds to a creative workspace
Gun Boat Sheds
The 1830’s Royal Danish Navy’s gun boat sheds were transformed into a vibrant and creative workspace, and later renovated again after a major fire incident. The renovation preserved the unique historical atmosphere while modernising with contemporary design elements. This adaptive reuse creates an innovative vibe, where the buildings offer flexible office spaces, meeting rooms, and laboratories. Additionally, the location’s waterfront access enhances the overall experience, allowing boat arrivals for events at the common facilities. The project is a prime example of blending heritage with modern functionality and was awarded a prize in 2001 by the Municipality of Copenhagen.
