PLH was awarded 1st prize in competition for its design of a new parking facility at Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen.
The car park’s scale, height and location at the corner of Bispebjerg Hospital’s northern access road are highly visible in the cityscape. We have, therefore, consciously worked with articulating the facades facing the main thoroughfare, to create a strong focal point for the area.

The building's function and dynamic ramp system deliberately dominate the design and are visible from the road. The facade curves in an unbroken plane around the circular double-ramp and spiral stairway to give the building a distinctive and friendly form. The ramps’ winding motion, which is reiterated in a glazed spiral stairwell, provides a distinctive sculptural effect on the corner. Feature lighting is used to illuminate and highlight the texture of the façade by night.
