PLH, in collaboration with Primus Arkitekter, prepared a masterplan and schematic proposal for a common building in the Mjølner Park neighbourhood, with three different user groups. A comprehensive analysis of the overarching approach and possible daily interactions between users, and regular presentations to the parties involved, led to the clear conclusion; a common building positioned as a focal point for the area, would create a welcoming, reassuring and inclusive gathering place for the precinct. Architecturally, the building is designed as a star with three legs, whereby it presents equally open on three sides, and with the open angles forming a visually clear backdrop to the outdoor spaces. The open facades and well-lit arrival space, invites one to move through the building and use it as a part of the park’s other facilities. A skin of perforated mental panels binds the structure, and creates, in the daytime a play of shadows indoors, and at night enriches the facades with a bright pattern.
