Høje-Taastrup City Hall Nominated for "Building of the Year" at Building Awards 2023

Høje-Taastrup City Hall has been chosen as a nominee for the "Building of the Year" award. PLH Arkitekter has designed the new landmark with a focus on sustainability, flexibility, and added value for citizens.

At the beginning of 2023, employees and citizens first stepped into the new city hall which is a significant and modern landmark for the municipality with its nine stories and central location in the new city park. PLH Arkitekter has designed the building in collaboration with ALL, COWI as the general consultant, Nordstern as the contractor, and Artelia as the client consultant.

Now, the project is nominated for the "Building of the Year" award at Building Awards 2023. In the description, it reads:

"The new city hall in Høje-Taastrup is an impressive nine-story building featuring a striking façade and a large rooftop terrace with a sun deck and lush greenery. The building is situated in the new city park and has set entirely new standards for sustainable city hall construction with initiatives such as recycled concrete, solar panels, and intelligent energy management."

An Iconic landmark with a sustainable vision

Høje-Taastrup City Hall is prequalified to receive the DGNB Gold sustainability certification from the Council for Sustainable Building. The certification is awarded because the design and construction have focused on measures and solutions that contribute to making the project more sustainable in terms of climate, environment, and social aspects.

The building serves as both a modern workplace and a natural, inviting gathering point for citizens. When entering the large, 37-meter-high atrium, one steps into the city's new square with green plants and cozy corners. Here, citizen-oriented functions such as reception, job center, citizen service, and the council chamber are located - with direct access to the city park, allowing events like weddings to take place outdoors.
