The DLG premises on the northern part of Nexø Harbour are empty today. In collaboration with the engineering company MOE, PLH Arkitekter has done a design proposal ”Nexø Pier” transforming the present buildings while respecting their original history and function. The buildings will be transformed into a market hall, a restaurant, hotel apartments and possibly also a cultural centre. When the project has been realised there will also be established a municipal library and a citizens’ service centre. To make sure the harbour area is closely connected to the city centre, Nexø Harbour will establish a new bridge for pedestrians and bicycles across the commercial harbour from The Dry Dock to the project area.
The project ’Nexø Pier’ has now been approved in the local development plan
The project Nexø Pier will transform the raw industrial area on the harbour of Nexø into a living and cultural destination for local and tourists. Nexø Pier will consist of a market hall, a restaurant, hotel apartments and possibly also a new cultural centre. A bridge for bicycles and pedestrians will be realised.
