Høje-Taastrup City Hall wins Byens Bedste award for architecture

Høje-Taastrup City Hall has been announced as winner of the architecture category in Berlingske’s annual Byens Bedste award. PLH Arkitekter designed the building which was nominated along with four other candidates.

The new city hall, which opened its doors to employees and citizens in Februar 2023, has been met with positive reactions. Now, the building has been announced as the winner in the architecture category of Byens Bedste, an annual award in which anyone can vote. Because it’s a public vote, PLH Arkitekter is particularly proud of the award, as it demonstrates that the citizens of Høje-Taastrup and Copenhagen have embraced the building.

Noting the building’s ‘wow factor’, Berlingske said among other things in their review:

"The City Hall (...) is a compact modern atrium-style building with a large interior space and a spiraling staircase that rises to great heights. Nevertheless, it maintains a modest, non-dominant scale, and the architects also convey that the initial intention was for it to be a "people's house. It appears to have become just that, and especially the grand, publicly accessible ninth-floor terrace contributes to giving the building a true "wow factor."

Høje-Taastrup City Hall was designed by PLH Arkitekter and created with our partners ALL, COWI, Nordstern and Artelia.
